Empowering African Australian Women (Pilot)

Through a series of focus group discussions, African Australian women identified priority areas for their empowerment. The project then worked with the City of Melbourne to equip the Women with the capacity to develop coping mechanisms in their communities and in their careers/workplace.

Finding Common Ground: Enhance Empowerment of African Australian Women

Participants confirmed the findings from a previous set of workshops on African Australian women’s values, vision, mission, goals and objectives, strategy and organisational structure. Participants discussed and agreed on five future priority areas for their empowerment.

Those areas included: i) Women’s leadership development; ii) Women’s health; iii) Family Violence prevention; iv) Capacity building and financial literacy; and, v) Gender equality.
