Sara Charlesworth is an investigator on this Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council-funded project led by Professor Tamara Daly (York University). This 7 year project builds on the World Health Organization’s ‘Age-Friendly Communities’ global initiative to investigate how culture and gender matter in creating age-friendly cities. It focuses not only on how the needs of marginalised groups of older people are met but also on those workers who support the aged, especially migrants and domestic carers, who are aging on the job. As part of the project 12 city case studies are being undertaken and will include Melbourne in 2021.
